Toilet and Shower Block

Thanks to the PDF Emergency Appeal fresh, clean water is now shared by all at FOH as well as a new toilet and shower block.

The toilet and shower block was formally opened by Frank Mushindu on behalf of SIA, Sarah Todd as a representative of TPDF and a special member of the FOH board, the opening saw a wave of children flock in, eager to see their new facility with ZNBC covering the opening. A huge cheer from all greeted the ribbon cutting showing what these new facilities mean to everyone at FOH.

Internet Cafe, Classrooms and Dormitory

2011 also saw the creation of a new internet cafe to generate income for FOH, the creation of their own website, refurbished classrooms by the IDEALS students and thanks to the generosity of many students a refurbishment of the boys Dorm, with a lick of paint, new mattresses and mosquito nets the room is a fresh haven for the 23 boys staying at fountain.

Steven Siame, peer leader of foh and resident said “words cannot describe how much this means to everyone at fountain” whilst proudly showing off his new bed.

"Thank you to everyone who donated and made this possible."

Food Programme

One of several sponsors including The Perfect Day Foundation, have been allowing Fountain of Hope to further their fantastic work in Zambia, by enabling them to feed over 300 children one meal a day and 60 residents three times a day. This would be an amazing achievement in the UK never mind in Zambia where the Fountain volunteers are still using outside charcoal fires to cook on each day.

A refurbished kitchen

St Andrews University, St Robert’s School, Washington and Durham University have kindly, through fantastic fundraising events, funded the regeneration of the Fountain of Hope kitchen and dining area by raising money for the Perfect Day Charity. This will provide the children with a safer and cleaner eating area, and will provide the staff/volunteers a far superior cooking environment to enable them to continue their invaluable work.
